Police Chief Patrolmen: Matt Lind Reserve Officers:
The police department is located in city hall at 409 10th Street. The department is dispatched through the Butler County Sheriff's office in Allison, IA. Chief Luze has worked for the city of Aplington for over 20 years. He was certified from the State of Iowa Law Enforcement Academy Intermediate Training on 09-02-83. He is also EMT-A/EMT-B certified. Chief Luze wants to remind everyone that during the spring and summer seasons, bicycles should be ridden on the right-hand side of the street and walkers should use the left-hand side of the street. 21 local volunteers comprise the Aplington Volunteer Fire Dept. All volunteers carry pagers. The rescue truck is equipped with the Jaws of Life. The pump truck is equipped with jump seats for air packs. There are also two tankers and a grass fire truck. The fire department averages 20-30 calls per year. AmbulanceAmbulance Director The Aplington Ambulance service is staffed by 20 volunteer EMT's and 7 volunteer drivers. It is licensed by the state of Iowa as an EMT-B service. The new ambulance was purchased in 1998 and is equipped as an ALS--advanced life support. Out of 16,325 ambulance providers in the state of Iowa, there are 1,380 EMT-I providers--Aplington is one of them. (EMS Directory, Iowa Dept. of Public Health, 1998) |
