As most of you are aware, the City is in the planning stages of a new Water Treatment Plant.  Before bids can be sent out to begin construction, a few important steps are to be completed.  One step involves all of the water utility customers to have a home inspection of sump pumps and improper hook ups. This inspection is a very simple check of the use and discharge of sump pumps as well as booster pumps. Not only has this been adopted in the Aplington Code of Ordinances*, it is also a requirement from the Iowa DNR to protect the water quality.

City public works employees have already begun inspections. We understand there will be those home owners that are gone during inspection hours. We ask that you simply call City Hall to arrange a time City personnel can check such connections. All inspections will need to be completed before the project can begin construction.

It is imperative you make arrangements as soon as possible. Please call the office to arrange a time.

We thank you for your immediate attention to this project.
Deb Prier, City Clerk
Jason Mehmen, Mayor
